
Harold Stanley Hawkins, D.D. born in Santa Ana, CA to Henry Jesse and Susan Brown Hawkins on October 16, 1927 passed away on August 9, 2007 in Moreno Valley, CA. Survived by his wife Joann Faron Hawkins; 2 sons Bert Hawkins of Torrance CA, Paul Hawkins of Oceanside CA; a daughter Katy Meulstee of Moreno Valley CA; numerous grandchildren; two great grandchildren, one of which preceded him in death and 6 stepchildren.
Rev. Hal grew up in Santa Ana. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an Aviation Ordnance Man aboard two aircraft carriers, the USS Prince William and the Manila Bay.
Hal accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in August 1945, the Sunday after Hostilities ended, at 1st Assembly of God in Santa Ana. Graduated from Life Bible College June of 1950 where, while attending college he met and married Paula Juanita Paeschke in 1949. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February 1999 and then Juanita preceded him in death on June 3, 1999. Hal pastored in Redondo Beach twice, as well as Reseda and Bell, CA. He was on staff at Oral Roberts University. He was a member of Rotary International for 40 years with 36 years of perfect attendance serving 1 term as President in1982-1983. Served 12 years on the Redondo Harbor Commission, 8 years on the Planning Commission, 25 years on the Redondo Round Table, 25 years on the Board of Directors of Camp Cedar Crest, a Foursquare Youth Camp at Running Springs, CA as well as The Pentecostal Fellowship of Greater Los Angeles with 2 terms as their president. He also worked with Wings of Mercy. At the age of 50 Hal joined the police force in Redondo Beach starting the Police Chaplain Program and working the streets for 12 years.
In February 2005 Hal married his current wife Joann and moved to Moreno Valley where he lived out the rest of his life. He will be missed immensely.
A gathering of family & friends was held at Rice Mortuary in Torrance on Monday August 13, 2007 from 4 to 8pm. The Service will be held at Kings Way Community Church in Lomita on Tuesday August 14 at 11am. Burial will take place later in the week at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.
