Born on September 27, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Arthor L. Countee and Ethel Rubey Countee, Patricia was one of seven children, raised in a household grounded in love, discipline, and faith. In 1944, her family relocated to California, where she would later attend Compton College, paving the way for a life of determination and achievement.
Patricia married Rodney Evans, and though they would divorce a foundation would be laid defined by unwavering commitment and devotion to family. As a loving mother to Guy R. Evans and Lisa I. Evans- Thompson—both of whom predeceased her—Patricia worked hard to ensure her children & their children wanted for nothing. She was also a proud mother-in-law to Robert Thompson, and found joy and fulfillment in her grandchildren: , Sunday C. Turner [Stephen Turner] & Guy F Evans.
A devoted provider, Patricia worked tirelessly to support her family, holding positions with the U.S. Postal Service – Terminal Annex, the L.A. County Employees Retirement Association, Animal Regulation, and the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation, where she retired with honor in 1998.
Patricia’s faith journey began early, lovingly instilled by her mother, who ensured she attended Sunday School and weekly services. As an adult, her devotion continued as she worshiped at Crenshaw Christian Center under Reverend Fred Price, and later became a proud member of Father Cares Fellowship also known as international Christian Center of Long Beach, where she worshipped under the ministry of her beloved son, Reverend Guy R. Evans.
She was bold, strong, and unapologetically outspoken — a woman who could be tough when needed, but who loved with every fiber of her being. She cherished family bar- b q's, pool parties, and festive gatherings, where her presence anchored the room and her laughter filled the air.
She is survived by her sister Beverly Aldridge, grandchildren Sunday C. Turner [Stephen Turner] and Guy F. Evans, her son in love Robert Thompson, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends.
Patricia’s legacy is one of faith, fortitude, and fierce love. Her spirit lives on in the family she built, the lives she touched, and the heart she gave so freely.
