Patty Hobbs

Patricia Lee (Patty) Hobbs, 78, a long time resident of Torrance passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023. She was born in Los Angeles, CA on October 31, 1945 to Doug and Ruby Shier. She attended high school at Washington High in Los Angeles. She met the love of her life, David Hobbs, in 1964 and was married after just 3 months of dating. She spent many years voluneering at her childrens' school(s), as well as volunteering with and working the snackbar at Tordondo Little League. She and David were members of the local Moose Lodge and particularly enjoyed camping with the Rod and Gun Club. Patty enjoyed playing bunco, scrapbooking, and showing off and bragging about her children, grand children and especially her great-grand children. She and David explored the United States while traveling in their motor home.

Patty is survived by daughters Cindy (Mike) Detlefsen and Shari Hobbs; her grandchildren Malorie (Ben), Jennifer, Janice and David (Rachel); her great-grandchildren Peyton and Olivia. Patty is preceded in death by her parents, Doug and Ruby Shier, and her husband of 58 years, David. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00am on Friday, December 29 with reception immediately following at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd. in Torrance. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org . She will be greatly missed.
