
Born on August 29, 1916 in San Bernardino, CA, his family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida where he spent his childhood. The family returned to California in 1928 making Redondo Beach their home.
An accomplished sailor and world traveler, Richard was able to devote more time to these passions upon his retirement from Sails by Watts/Texlon Corporation, He was a member of the Transpac Yacht Club, the Adventurer's Club and Los Angeles Yacht Club among others.
Richard was anactive member of the Evangelical Free Church of Redondo Beach and recently traveled to Chiapas, Mexico on a church mission.
Richard navigated his life like he navigated the sea; with a spirit of adventure.
Richard will be fondly remembered by many. He was a good friend and a gentleman. He will be greatly missed.
Beloved by his family, Dick is survived by his brother, Gerald (Vivian) Brownell of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; Nephew Ronald Brownell (Linda) of Redondo Beach, CA; Niece, Linda Savell (Don) of Redondo Beach, CA; Steven Brownell (Laura) of Burbank CA; Nephew, Marvin Munster (Sharon) of Escondido, CA; Niece, Beverly McKnight (Donn) of Mc Cleary, WA; Niece, Sally Lafferty (David) of Camarillo, CA; and Julie Replinger (Mike) of Camarillo, CA. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Elsie Brownell, Father Fred Brownell Sr., sister, Fearn Munster and brother, Fred Brownell.
The Graveside Service will be held at Inglewood Park Cemetery on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow.
