Rodolfo Pagliaccio passed away in Los Angeles on September 30, 2021 at the age of 80. Born Rudolph David Pagliaccio in New York City, he was always known by his Italian name Rodolfo, or his nickname, Rudy. Under his stage name Rudy Paige, he entertained friends and fans with his beautiful singing voice and engaging stand-up routines. Rudy was known for his humor and his way with words. His ability to respond to almost any situation with an amusing and insightful quip was legendary. Rudy was truly an artist to his core. In addition to singing, comedy, acting and voice work, he was known also for his poetry (especially haiku), his metallic ink prints, playful cartoon sketches, colorful abstract canvases, and found art compositions.
After growing up in Queens, New York, Rudy enjoyed a successful early career in advertising on Madison Avenue in the 1960s, and in Japan in the early 1970s. Rudy eventually settled in his beloved San Francisco where he lived, worked and entertained for 17 years. Moving to Los Angeles in the early 1990s, Rudy continued to follow his artistic passions. Rudy could fix your sink, then make you the best pizza outside of Italy, and follow it up with a good joke (told in any number of accents) and a big bear hug. Often called Uncle Ru by friends and family alike, Rudy was most beloved for those big hugs and his warm heart.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Deborah Robbins, his daughter Viva Sterner (David), his grandchildren Clay and Madison, his former wife Renate Wahn Pagliaccio, many nephews and nieces (and great nephews/nieces), and a plentitude of friends. A Celebration of Life was held to celebrate and honor Rudy on November 14, 2021.
