We are heartbroken to share the news of the passing of our beloved Roger Greenham. He died peacefully on March 25, 2025 in Redondo Beach at the age of 81. Roger was a devoted husband to Lynnie for 35 years and a proud and loving father to Geoffrey Greenham and Caroline Murgatroyd. He is also survived by his two grandsons Ash and Tai Murgatroyd and son-in-law Mike Murgatroyd.
Roger was born November 4,1943 in San Francisco. He graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School and pursued his education with dedication, ultimately earning a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from USC in 1971. For many years Roger served his community with distinction as a pharmacist at Bay Harbor Hospital and Rehabilitation Center in Torrance. His work was a true reflection of his compassionate spirit and commitment to helping others. This dedication extended far beyond his professional life; Roger approached every aspect of living with the same energy, kindness and enthusiasm. Beyond his career, Roger’s life was rich with adventure and activity. He was an active member and leader with the Palos Verdes-South Bay Sierra Club hiking group finding immense joy in exploring the natural world. His passion for fitness was evident—he loved walking everywhere, riding his bike, practicing yoga with Lynnie and participating in classes at the Torrance YMCA. In the 1980’s Roger even enjoyed Jazzercise where he met Lynnie. In his later life Roger enjoyed taking dance lessons and spending evenings dancing.
One of Roger’s greatest joys was his home in Big Bear, where he spent over fifty years creating unforgettable memories with family and friends. Big Bear was more than just a destination, it was a reflection of his love for nature and his appreciation for the simple, beautiful moments in life. Winter ski adventures and summer mountain hikes became cherished traditions and he took particular pride in seeing his daughter and her family embrace the spirit of Big Bear continuing the traditions he so loved.
Roger believed in “living life as it goes along” and savoring each moment. His legacy is not just measured by the years he lived but by the profound impact he had on so many lives. His memory will be forever cherished, and the lessons he taught us - about kindness, generosity, adventure, and the enjoyment of the great outdoors – will continue to inspire us.
You are invited to celebrate Roger’s life with family. This celebration will take place at the South Bay Botanic Garden in the Koi Pond patio area.
