Born November 11, 1932, to Ana and Arturo Andrade, Rolando grew up in Aguascalientes, Mexico and moved to Enid, Oklahoma at the age of 19 to attend Phillips University. At Phillips he earned two bachelor's degrees before spending 6 years as a minister in Kansas and Oklahoma. Rolando went on to earn his master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Oklahoma, where he taught for two years before becoming a professor at his beloved Bowling Green State University. Over the next 41 years at Bowling Green, Rolando mentored and taught many students, creating a bond, not only with his students and the university, but the community. A true advocate for change, Rolando found many ways to contribute to his community, including through Rotary, which he was very active in both in Ohio and California, for over 25 years. In 2008, Rolando relocated to Redondo Beach, California to live with his son and remained in the South Bay for the rest of his life.
Rolando leaves behind a legacy of love, honesty and integrity. He will be fondly remembered and will live on through his sons, Kevin and Antonio, and his grandchildren, Sophia and Arturo, his sisters Gracie Pierce, Kitty Zamora, and America Stromek, his many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
