Everyone's buddy Ron "Ronnie" Wilson aka R-Dub, Bubba, Buba-licious, Big Mo and Wil-Dog went to be with his Lord and maker on April 11, 2011. Ron loved life, he loved his family and friends, he loved to have fun and he was always the life of the party! Born November 16, 1952 in Inglewood, CA Ron came into this world with racing and competition in his blood. Though he played football as a teenager for Hawthorne High School, his passion was for racing and he would race anything with a motor. It started with motorcycles as a young man, then to competitive boat and ski racing and finally as a professional Formula One tunnel boat racer in the '90s. Throughout his racing career he was also an accomplished general contractor and real estate Broker living and working in the South Bay for his entire life. However, he would say that his greatest accomplishment in life was the raising of his three children; Luke, Liana and Matthew. With his wife Lynn, the Wilson family enjoyed all activities in or around the water. River trips to Parker, camping events at Dockweiler Beach, ski races at Lake Mead and Clear Lake to name a few. In 2005 Ron suffered a major stroke that slowed down his body, but it did nothing to slow down his drive and determination for life. In the face of adversity Ron used the stroke and the recovery process to gain a new respect for life and a strengthened relationship with God. We were blessed to have Ron Wilson in our lives for as long as we had him and he will be greatly missed. Life is very fragile and we lost our beloved Ronnie much too soon so take an opportunity to reach out to your friends and loved ones today and make sure they know how you feel. Ron is survived by his wife Lynn, son Luke, daughter-in-law Mischa, daughter Liana, son Matthew, grandchildren Delaney and Mason, father Norman, mother Peggy, sister Karen, brother-in-law Ron and loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. A memorial and celebration of Ron's life will be held on Sunday, April 17th at 11 a.m. at the Portofino Hotel and Yacht Club in Redondo Beach with a reception at the same location from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Address of memorial/reception: 245 Portofino Way, Redondo Beach, CA 90277. In lieu of flowers, Ron's family will be accepting donations at the service for the American Stroke Foundation and/or the American Heart Association. A webcast of the celebration service will be available to view online at www.lafuneral.com for 90 days after the service. Now go live and love " 'til the hubcaps come off." -RW
