On May 13, 2011, Salvatore Michael Robelotto passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born in 1925 to Vincent Robelotto and Anna Padula, he was the youngest of seven children – Joseph, Leonard, Anthony, Vincent, Madelyn, and his identical twin brother, Rocco. As he was the last to be born, so now he is the last to pass. He and his twin brother, Rocco, joined the Navy and together served aboard the destroyer, the USS Hawkins, during the final part of World War II. Soon after his discharge, he met and married Mary Burometto. They had four children – Mike, Portia, Faith, and Christina. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Sienna College in New York and was included in the 1950-51 version of Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. He later obtained his Master’s Degree in Metallurgy from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In 1956, having accepted a job as a metallurgist for Sciaky Brothers, the family moved to California. He was later employed by North American Aviation and Hughes Research Labs in Malibu. Utilizing his education and experience, he started his own successful business in 1966 – Electron Beam Welding, Inc., which he later sold in 1986. For his groundbreaking work in the field of high tech welding, he was honored in Who’s Who in the West for 1978-79.
Sal was predeceased by his first wife Mary, his six siblings, and his stepson, Kevin. He is survived by his devoted wife Dorothy Lum; his adoring children and step-children Mike, Portia, Faith, Christina, Valerie and Cheryl, and their spouses – Shelly Daly, Raffaele La Ferla, Gary Jones, Brian Thoman, and Eugene Kanechika; his loving grandchildren Emily, David, Andrei, Sam, Sara, Joey, Melissa, Christopher, Brandon, Amber, and Ryan, and a multitude of nephews and nieces in California, New York, and Georgia.
The family would like to express their eternal gratitude to his devoted wife, Dorothy, for her loving care of him through the years. She brought immense joy to his life and ours, adding years of precious memories to our time together in this world.
