Sister Anne Eugene Metcalf

Sister Anne Eugene Metcalf, C.S.J. age 85 passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Kaiser Hospital in West Los Angeles, CA. She was born September 23, 1937 in Huntington Park, CA and was a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet since March 19, 1956. The only child of Carl Metcalf and Elva Reed, she received her education at Villa Cabrini Academy in Burbank and St. Mary's Academy.

For all of her years in ministry, Anne Eugene was an educator serving as teacher and administrator in high schools throughout the Province. She had a great love for education and enjoyed high school students. She had the ability to move to each school and semester with renewed energy and high expectations.

She is survived by her cousins Patsy (Neil) Roth, Margo Kemp and Vida Freeman.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Zoom, Tuesday, August 22, 2023. A link will be available by contacting [email protected]. after August 20.

Funeral Liturgy in the St. Joseph’s Chapel, Carondelet Center, on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 10:00 am. This Liturgy will be live streamed. Information will be available closer to the date. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1:30 PM. Columbarium, adjacent to Holy Redeemer Chapel.

All in-person attendees to the services at Carondelet Center will be required to provide evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination record. All attendees will need to submit a copy of their vaccination record prior to the Funeral Mass by e-mail to Carondelet Center reception at [email protected].
