When the best of us leave this earth too soon, perhaps it will serve to inspire the rest of us to reach just a little bit higher, care just a little bit more for each other and to truly embrace the precious moments we have together. Stephen Rogers Marrichi was one of the best of us. He embodied those ideals before he passed away in Los Angeles on July 16, 2019 at the age of forty-one.
Stephen was born on May 29, 1978. He was the first child of Marjorie Rogers Marrichi and Glenn Thomas Marrichi, then residing on Grosse Ile, MI. Perhaps his lifelong love of the water was also born there on that island.
At a very young age, his family moved to Palos Verdes, CA, where the beach and the waves inspired his creativity. They led him to the University of San Diego for his BA and then to Los Angeles for his career in music, entertainment and video games.
Some of his ashes will ride those waves once more, as they were given to the sea in a private ceremony off the coast of Palos Verdes.
On Saturday, August 17, 2019, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM at St. James Episcopal Church on the island of Grosse Ile, Mi. He will rest in the memorial garden there, where his parents were married and where his maternal grandparents found their final resting place.
Stephen is survived by his parents and by his younger brother, Bryan Marrichi (Julia Pellizzari).
His volunteer work with active military and disabled veterans at the Los Angeles VA Hospital informed his life. He directed that the National Veterans Foundation receive a contribution in his name. nvf.org
