Velma Marie (Hart) Lehigh was born on June 2, 1928 in Bishop, California. She was raised in El Segundo where she met her future husband Glen Lehigh. They were married on July 3, 1943 and bought their first home in Westchester. They moved to Palos Verdes Estates in 1952 where they raised their children Sharon and Terry.
Velma's career with the Palos Verdes Unified School District spanned 29 years. She worked in food services and retired as cafeteria manager.
Velma's passion was her family. She had many interests but all of them centered around her family. She enjoyed catering with her daughter Sharon; watching sports with Glen; going to Angels baseball Spring Training with family and friends; and going on annual camping and fishing trips to the High Sierras with her extended family.
Velma was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon and is survived by Glen, her husband of 71 years; son Terry and daughter-in-law Rita; grandchildren Danny, Michael, Eddie and Lori, Steven and Livi; great grandchildren Andrew, Kylie and Dylan. Memorial services are planned with Rice Mortuary.
