Blanche Marie Plamondon

The angels welcomed our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great- grandmother,

friend, and neighbor to the gates of Heaven on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the age of 97. Blanche was

born on February 23, 1918, to Edward and Mary (Linguar) Gauthier in Lake Leelanau. She graduated

from St. Mary’s High School, and three months later married the love of her life, Earl James Plamondon.

They were married for 53 years, until Earl passed away on July 14, 1990. Together they established

Cherry Bend Grocery on Cherry Bend Road, Elmwood Twp., in 1937, and were the owners until selling to

their son Daniel in 1985.

Blanche is survived by her children, Alfred (Judy), Ronald, Mary Lee (Noel) Flohe, Jeanne (Robert) Berg,

Ann (John) McCarthy, Paul (Wanda), Blanche (James) Greene, and Daniel (Dawn). She is also survived by

28 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Blanche’s family and faith

were the cornerstones of her life; she had a particular devotion to the Blessed Mother, and loved to

pray the rosary daily.

Besides her husband Earl, Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Blanche, her

brother Robert, and her daughter-in-law Carol.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm with a rosary at 7 pm

at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be held

Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 11 am, with visitation one hour prior, at Immaculate Conception Catholic

Church. Rev. James Hayden will officiate. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Mary’s Lake Leelanau

Cemetery.

Blanche’s family wishes to acknowledge the superior level of care that she received from Fairview Adult

Foster Care Home of Grand Ledge, MI as well as Heartland Hospice of Mason, MI.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Immaculate Conception Church, Traverse City; Grand

Traverse Area Catholic Schools; or St. Mary’s Church, Lake Leelanau.
