

Daniel P. Warwick II passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 at Munson Hospice House. Dan was born in Boston, MA to Jack and Joan in 1932. They moved to Pontiac in1939. Dan graduated from Pontiac High School in 1950 and Michigan State University in 1954.
He then entered the US Air Force as a Second Lieutenant and graduated from pilot training. In March of 1956. His first assignment took him to Portland, OR flying the F-89 and F-102 interceptors. He met his wife Patricia Ann there and they had two boys, Daniel and Brett. The next assignment in 1960-64 was to Ramstein AB in Germany. Two girls; Theresa and Colleen were born there. In 1964 they were transferred to George AFB, Victorville, CA where Dan was upgraded to the F-4 (Phantom). In 1966 Dan was sent to Ubon, Thailand to conduct air operations on North Vietnam. Upon completion of the combat tour he returned to George AFB where he was an instructor pilot until 1970. A son, Matthew, was born in 1968. A succession of tours followed until Dan's retirement as a Lt/Col in 1975. The entire family moved to Traverse City in 1976. His wife Patricia passed away in 1991.
Later, he married Roberta Ruth Raby of Leland. Some of Dan’s best years were spent with Roberta. They ran the Warwickshire Inn and travelled extensively. Dan enjoyed a good game of poker and recently placed in a poker tournament at the local casino. He also spent many evenings playing cribbage.
Per his wishes cremation has taken place and a graveside service is being planned for spring. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Munson Hospice House or the Cherryland Humane Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City.
