Donald Julius Hansen

Don was born on June 1, 1925, the son of Carl and Lella (Copeland) Hansen. He was wed to Arlene Moldenhauer on September 17, 1951, together raised four children. Although he didn’t talk much about his duty in WWII, Don proudly served his country in the United States Army. He owned and operated Don Hansen Wholesale Produce and after retiring, worked part time form Pony Express.

Don enjoyed fishing with his brother-in-law, hunting, playing cards and Keno, especially his poker nights. He was a loving and caring father; one of the best! Don could always be found helping others even when it became physically difficult to do so. With as active as Don was, his main passion was taking care of his warehouses. He could always be found driving the grounds or maintaining the buildings.

Don is survived by his children, Bonnie (Kurt) Habrecht, Daniel (Meredith) Hansen, Bruce (Christine) Hansen, and Lori (Steven) Randell; 13 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

Preceding Don in death are his parents, Carl and Lella Hansen, wife, Arlene Hansen in 2013, 2 brothers and a sister, 1 grandson, and 1 great grandson.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2015 at 11 am at Church of the Living God with visitation starting at 10 am. There will also be visitation on Tuesday, May 31 from 6 - 8 pm at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
