

Duard enlisted in the US Army and served his country during WWII. He received a purple heart from the Battle of the Bulge. He served in Normandy, Northern France and throughout Europe.
Duard married the late Mildred “Midge” Sheldon on September 4, 1943 in Sault Ste. Marie. He later married Doris Hamm on March 24, 2003.
Duard worked for Purvis Brothers as a welder for many years and at Consumers Power in maintenance. He was a member of the Pioneer Bible Church in Honor. Duard was also a part of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Traverse City Motorcycle Club. He taught welding to adults through the community education program at the high school. When Duard wasn’t busy fixing or building something, he enjoyed hunting and flying.
Duard is survived by his children: Brenda (Douglas) Sheldon of Sebring FL, Jene’ (Ron) Wright Ahlquist of Grand Haven, Penny (Jim) LIesmanki - Papka of Watertown, SD, and Mark (Kim) Peck of Lansing; 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; three sisters: Lucille Nelson, Gladys (Floyd) Kevwitch, and Irene (Ray) Wilson and one brother: Cecil Peck; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Duard was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred; Children: Gwendolyn Sue and Raymond Bruce; granddaughter: Elizabeth Peck; great grandson: Jonathan Rademaker; sister: Dorothy Malujik; sons-in-law: Brian Wright and Curtis Liesmaki.
A celebration of life is being planned for July 21, 2017. A announcement will be placed once a time and place has been determined.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City.
