

George A. Booth, age 70, of Traverse City, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013 at Munson Medical Center with his loving family at his side. He was born March 22, 1943 in Concord, MI to Elmer and Vera (Weston) Booth. George graduated from Hanover-Horton High School in 1961. He married Linda Hester in Jackson, MI on December 21, 1963. Together they raised 2 daughters.
George worked as an Operations Manager for Atlas Energy for 12 years and owned his own company, J.M.C. Services LLC for 7 years. He was a member of the Kingsley Sportsman Club and the Elks Club of Traverse City. George enjoyed fabricating his own muzzleloaders and competed in various competitions where he received many awards. He also enjoyed camping and traveling, but there was nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with his beloved wife, daughters, grandchildren, and many special friends.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Linda of almost 50 years; daughters: Lisa (Anthony) Brady of Greenbelt, MD and Krista (Paul Gabbard) Roop of Traverse City; 4 grandchildren: Jessica Brady, Christopher Roop, Mike (Rachel) Brakel, and Amanda Roop; 2 siblings: Barb Boyle and Lynn (Linda Sue) Booth; special friends: Rob and Tracy Izatt and their 3 daughters, Olivia, Elle, and Sophia, Dan Roose and Taylor Denham and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by 3 siblings James Barnard, Lois Eckert, and Forest Booth.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2013 from 6-8 pm at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. A funeral will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 1 pm, with visitation one hour prior, also at the funeral home.
