Judith Ann Waite left this earth & danced her
way to heaven on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from
Traverse City, MI. Born on July 11, 1944, in Flint, MI,
Judy’s parents were Carl & Mary (Worm) Revett.
Judy lived in Saginaw with her family as a young
girl. They later moved to Traverse City where she
graduated from St. Francis High School in 1962.
Judy & Carlson Waite were united in
marriage on October 13, 1962, in Traverse City.
Carl & Judy soon moved to Chicago, IL,
where they became the very proud parents of
their four children. From the 70s to early 80s,
the family resided in Bear Lake, MI. While living in
Bear Lake, Judy worked at Bear Lake Schools as
a teacher's aide for several years. Judy &
Carl subsequently moved to Traverse City.
Judy was a vibrant & outgoing lady known
for her passion, honesty, directness, perseverance
& love of all things beautiful. She particularly
loved children, dogs, horses, flowers, boating,
swimming, dancing, shopping & keeping busy.
She especially enjoyed spending time with family
& friends dining out & going to the movies.
Judy disliked deceit, foul language, dirt, &
bugs - especially spiders. Her friend Joy used to
tease her that Judy's cause of death would be
"Raid."
Judy later moved to California where she lived
in San Jose & worked toward her associates
degree at Phillips Junior College. She also worked
in a number of office positions while living there.
In 1995 Judy came to Traverse City for a vacation,
suffered a major heart attack & required a quadruple
heart bypass surgery, which gave her many more years
with us. Following that, Judy remained to live
in her much-loved hometown of Traverse City.
Judy enjoyed giving & sharing with others. She
lovingly cooked & delivered her specialties to
friends. While their children were growing up, Judy,
Carl & their children baked & beautifully,
meticulously decorated hundreds of Christmas
cookies each year to share with grateful friends &
family. Judy was an accomplished seamstress who
created wonderful hand-made Halloween costumes
for her young children. She was also an artist who painted
a number of beautiful paintings she left for her family to
enjoy. She was a faithful Catholic who prayed often
each day for those she loved.
Judy was predeceased by her husband Carlson (2013),
her mother Mary Kiss (1994), her father Carl Revett
(1982), her step-father Frank Kiss (2012), her beloved
Grandpa Adam & Grandma Mary (Steinebach) Worm,
her special uncle Ben Worm, dear friend Grace Slocum,
her cat Mandy & "Murphy the bird."
Mourning her passing are her children Doreen
Waite, Christopher (Chris Peila) Waite, Jeffrey (Lisa) Waite
& Pamela (Adam) Gierczak.
She is also survived by her grandchildren Jessica
Buttermore, Shalyn (James) Poisson, Allison
Buttermore, Andrew Waite, Austin Waite, Emily Waite
& her great grandson Luke Poisson. Her brother
David (Bonita) Revett & their families as well as several
nieces, nephews & cousins also survive.
Judy's beloved Bichon Frise Magical Maggie May
will be lost without her; they were devoted to each other.
Among her many friends who grieve her loss are
Jackie Flattery & family, James & Joy Babcock &
family & many others too numerous to mention.
Judy loved each of you to the moon & back.
Judy's family wishes to sincerely thank all of
Judy's "helpers" -- especially Annie, Jamie &
Nora plus the staff of Tendercare. We are grateful
for their assistance, expertise, patience, kindness,
friendship & presence in Judy's life.
At Judy's request, she has been cremated. Judy's
family & friends will gather for a celebration of her
life in the summer of 2015.
Memorials may be directed to Covell Funeral Home,
who is in charge of the arrangements.
