Mary K Leahy

M. Kathleen Leahy, 84, of Traverse City, formerly of Farmington Hills, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014. Kathleen was born on Jan. 19, 1930 in Detroit, the daughter of Bernard and Katherine (Coyne) Mullin.

After graduating from Redford High School in 1948, Kathleen spent several years in California before returning to Michigan and marrying William Leahy on Aug. 23, 1958. They had 5 children within 8 years which kept Kathleen very busy. She was a volunteer at Providence Hospital in Southfield and served two years as president of the Our Lady of Providence League. As her children got older, she enjoyed her independence and kept busy with both work and travel.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, William Leahy; children, Anne (Jorge) Prada, John (Julie) Leahy, Elizabeth Leahy, Michael (Sandra) Leahy, and Mary K. Buzolits; and 10 grandchildren. Kathleen’s parents and 2 brothers, Bernard and Dennis Mullin preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held on October 30th at 11:00am at St Fabian Church in Farmington Hills with visitation 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
