

Selma (Sallie) June Baxter was granted her angel wings on February 2, 2012 at the age of 89. Although Selma (Sallie as she was known affectionately) was born in Holt, Michigan, she spent her entire life in the "north woods" Suttons Bay and Traverse City enjoing the beautiful region. She was a homemaker, loving devoted wife to Maynard N. Baxter, and wonderful mother and grandmother. Her interests included family, cooking many marvelous meals and devoting much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother, sister-in-law, and husband until they passed away. She was an active advocate and President of the guild at Medical Care / Pavilions for years and was a familiar face to many staff and patients. She will be well remembered for her smiling face, gracious spirit, and kind words and her love for her two special pet corgi's over the years, Jena and Sarafina who brought her much delight. She is survived by her Son, Randall (Sarah) Baxter, her daughter, Tammie (Donald) McMaster, her grandchildren, Kelly Baxter, Aaron McMaster, Morgan Baxter and Jayme McMaster and her sister, Leona Soappman. A memorial service will be planned for this upcoming summer season. Memorial Contributions may be made the the Grand Traverse Pavilions - Alzheimer's wing or the Salvation Army.
