Dear family and friends of Stacey McClellan,

I remember waking up the morning of my daughter's memorial service a little over 13 years ago… it was one more traumatic experience following her sudden death.  I'm thinking of you all this morning, as surely as your day has begun with the same sorts of thoughts and feelings as I had that morning.
  
Stacey was my neighbor on Arthur Court for many years and I was shocked to read of her passing in the local paper.  I have intended, for some time now, on writing to Stacey and Sue; to let them know I've missed them next door, that I had come to really appreciate them as neighbors.  Sadly, as so often is the case, we don't realize what people mean to us until they are out of our lives.  I felt an unexpected loss when they moved away; I had come to look for them day-to-day in my normal flow of life's processes.  I realized their presence was important to me - good, friendly neighbors that added to my sense of safety and wellbeing in my home. 
 
We became friends over the fence; with dogs barking wildly, I knew I liked Stacey from the first moment - anyone who would add one Jack Russell Terrier after another to their family surely had to have a BIG heart!  The truth was the dogs were ever intensely carrying on at the backyard fence because they had a neighbor, me, with four dogs of my own, and my little female Yorkie had the disturbing habit (every time she was let out to ‘take care of business') of trotting out to the side fence, letting out one bark and waiting…  Rarely was she ever let down because within a split second, one then another of the Jack Russell neighbors in rapid succession would shoot out through their dog door, barking wildly in response!!!  

The familiar process had started - into the tracks up and down the fence line, as my four dogs stood at the fence and watched the amazing energy explosion!!!  Although I know the barking and general pandemonium that unleashed regularly bothered Stacy (I think she was always concerned it upset me) but it was funny really!  Not a single time when our dog was let out did she not go to the fence and send out that one bark to her buddies next door!  In those minutes I knew that the person(s) that owned those dogs was a kindred spirit; I felt an instant friendship.
 
It took literally months after Stacey and Sue moved away for my little Yorkie to stop going to the fence, calling out to her neighbors for a visit.  I've seen each of them return to the fence, look all around for their friends and then turn and walk away; the memory of the Jack Russell family has lasted long and still, on occasion, my two little Yorkies will return alone to the fence to look for their friends - I'm certain they are looking for them as well as the place they spent so often with my two Golden Retrievers - they have passed away.  
The quiet speaks to my memory, bringing to mind the neighbors I have been grateful to have.

Every spring I was happy to greet Stacey and Sue out with the dogs and wanted to know how they'd fared the winter; often I'd meet a new family member that had joined Brutus, Dale and the rest!  I came to understand that at least some of the six or seven dogs that became permanent members were rescues initially; this said a lot to me about my neighbors - people I was always thankful to have next door.  

Commonly, neighbors living even in as close proximity as we did, rarely get to know each other at all; we're all so consumed with work and the normal worries of life.  I thank God that was not the case for me this time and I'm grateful that I knew Stacey.  Some may say I didn't know her well (and I'd be tempted to agree) but when I think about it a bit, I wonder if I may not have actually known her very well.  I caught a daily glimpse of her character, her heart; a giving, loving soul.

I know you all will miss her way more than me, but I had to let you know that I too will miss her and that she meant something to me.  I pray God will bring you comfort through your memories of Stacey in time.

Stacy, I am not sure I can find the words to describe how much you have touched my life and those all you have been apart of. I have witnessed your passion for others and the love of life. I'm so blessed to have had you in my life if even for a brief time. Happy to have been able to call you friend. Love you and will miss you.

It was a blessing and a pleasure to work for such a caring and selfless family. One of my favorite memories was from Halloween at the store a few years ago. Pat never liked Halloween much, so I gladly volunteered to dress up (I'm sure the mall is still finding glitter from those fairy wings!) and pass out the candy. Stacy was there and we managed to make it through the night with her help, she could always brighten up the room. 
You are so missed, and I am grateful for the memories I have with you and and your wonderful family.

Stacy I am so sad that you had to leave us so soon. You were another one of my daughter. You are a very special person. I will always remember the times when you and your mom and Heather and I lived together. Rest in peace sweet girl.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Stacy. She and I grew up in the same neighborhood. I still remember her house on Wayne Street and all of Pat's Elvis decor. Stacy and I were always outside playing Dukes of Hazard, getting dirty, or playing ball. We were the "tomboys" of the neighborhood. I have so many great memories of her from my childhood. It seems like just yesterday. I reconnected with her on facebook and was glad to see she still played softball, as I still did. My thoughts and prayer are with Pat and the family. I am so sorry for what you are going through. RIP Stacy and I'm sure we will meet again some day.

I remember Stacy as always being a "Tom Boy".  I remember on picture day in elementary school her mom maid her wear a dress.  She was NOT happy.  I also remember she was a big KISS fan.  You will be missed.  Thoughts and prayers to the family.

It's hard to believe that you're gone. My fondest memory of high school are numerous; cruising around Van Wert in the winter in your truck, winning powder puff football two years in a row!! (that's a record), sharing Ralphy our "pet" mouse (no one else would have agreed but you!). Every time I think of high school, you and the "gang" make me  smile! We will all miss you, Stacy! Even though we know you are in a better place right now!

So sorry your journey on this earth ended too soon.  I'll always remember our concert adventures and our trip to Cedar Point senior year!

I remember riding in the back of your truck after we stomped the seniors in the powder puff game our junior year. I remember staying up all night at your house cramming for exams. I remember staying in a tent out at your Dad's place drinking wine coolers shortly before I moved to Florida after graduation. Now I just have to say that I have a TERRIBLE memory...but these things stand out. You were a genuinely good person and your passing is leaving grieving hearts far and wide. All of my love to your family and your partner and close friends during this very difficult time. May they find their peace. Love you Stacy.

So many great memories; I don't know where to start. Because of you, I got to see my beloved Lady Vols three times! Because of you, I ended my softball career with a State Championship. Because of you, I have a lifetime of memories from our times in Tawas. Because of you, I learned that life is too short to waste. Because of you, Stacy......

Hey Sis. You will truly be missed. You were such a big part of my life growing up. I admired you so much. We had so much fun together. I wish we would have been able to reconnect the past few years in person. I was so excited when I found you and David on FaceBook. We had a lot of great conversations catching up. Please tell Dad hi and I miss him. I love you always. Till we meet again you will always be in my thoughts. ((((HUGS))))

My first memory of Stacy was on the ball field.  Her and her family had recently moved to Michigan, and she was looking for a team to join.  She instantly became part of my family.  Our first game in Honor, she quickly got ejected for throwing her bat and swearing.  Throughout the next fifteen years, we graciously changed roles from me being to the coach, to her excelling at being my coach, to her personal development of creating a MASA Champion team.  I have countless more Sisters because of her.  I know also have an extended family with the McClellan's.  She was there for me at my lowest as I was for her.  I am so grateful to have been able to call her my best friends and for my girls to have the best "Uncle Stacy" in the world.  She touched me like no other, and I will miss her every day until we meet again on another ball field.  I love you Pookie!  Crack one over the fence for me!

Stacy was the bond that brought many of us together.  She loved life and was good to so many people.  The CSWs were and always will be a part of my life and I will never forget you.  Actually you are tattooed on my back so I really won't but that's how important we all were!!  I miss you greatly and am glad you are now in heaven watching out for us.

There are no words to console a broken heart. Stacy was one of the kindest, most selfless, loving people I have ever met in my life. I knew the moment she walked into my life that we would have a bond that could not be broken. I am thankful for the memories we made, I am thankful for the time we got to share our lives with one another. You were a wonderful friend & I could not have asked for more. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting you, will never forget you. You touched the lives of many, Stacy. I'll never stop missing you & you'll ALWAYS be my "Michigan Love Bug". Spread your wings.

I miss you so much, as you were taken way too soon. You were a great friend to me and I will never forget the memories we've had together. I cherish our time spent together and am extremely happy you were a part of my life. Rest in Paradise.

I am sad to even have to write this.  Stacy and I went through many things together living in Van Wert, the better part is that we both overcame the adversity.  Stacy and I played softball together since we were probably 8 or 9 yrs old all through high school.  We got back in touch over fb as many did.  We talked several times about life, love and well life lol.  She was a very  outgoing and lovable woman and even with all her heath issues she stayed her positive self.  She had made plans a few times to come to see me in Miami and relax and jus rejuvenate.. Sadly that never happened, BUT this Saturday at sunset I will be at the beach letting a lantern go in her honor.  Keep that diamond clean girl I heard they play ball 24/7 and we are going to get dirty all day... May you rest in paradise Stacy.. May God keep his loving arms around your family.... Love ya Stacy...

There are no words that could take away the pain of a loved one leaving us too soon. I love you two so much. I loved Stacy as a "cousin" and have great memories being part of your family. We will remember all the good times and learn of how many peoples lives she has touched. She was a giver and loved to make people smile. She will always be loved my many, many people. Love always??
