

Thelma Sue Martinson, 82 of Traverse City died Wednesday, December 13, 2017. Thelma was born on March 22, 1935 in Dalton, Georgia to Harlin and Addie (Babbs) Hall. She attended Milan High School and graduated in 1953. Following, she married Martin Martinson on July 2, 1954 in Ann Arbor, MI., and moved to northern Michigan in 1955.
Thelma worked at the State Hospital in Traverse City for 20 years, retiring in 1970. She and her family enjoyed camping and were members of the NCHA club. She also enjoyed traveling, knitting, crocheting, and reading.
She is survived by her husband Martin, children: Martin (Leona) of South Boardman, Carol Sue Martinson of Traverse City, and Evelyn (Gary) Sylvester of Flint, grandchildren; Robbie, Tanya (Usitalo), Scott (Betty), Michaela Martinson, and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters; Margaret Nixon, Genevia (Jerry) DuBois, Dolores Williams, and brother Melvin Hall. She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 1pm from the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 p.m. Spring interment will be held at South Boardman Cemetery.
Memorial contributions appreciated to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
