It was a life marked by love, faith, compassion, and a spirit that left a lasting imprint on everyone she encountered.
Born on October 3, 1984 in Chamblee, Georgia to Daoud and Shannon Shakkour, Ansley was a light from the very beginning. She carried within her a rare combination of gentleness and strength, joy and resilience. She had a way of making people feel immediately known, valued, and cared for whether they had known her for years or just a few moments.
Ansley was a devoted wife to Gregory since their marriage on October 10, 2010, and a deeply loving mother. She embraced motherhood with her whole heart, raising Alexa, Camden, and Arianna from a young age as her own, and later welcoming Adelyn and Lincoln. To all of her children, she was a constant source of love, guidance, consistency, patience, and encouragement. Motherhood was her greatest joy and most cherished role.
Her compassion extended far beyond her home. A 2007 graduate of Emory University School of Nursing, Ansley became a Registered Nurse, where her work was not just skilled - it was her calling. For 16 years in Labor & Delivery, she cared for others in their most vulnerable moments with tenderness, dignity, and extraordinary empathy. She had a remarkable gift for comforting mothers experiencing loss, offering not only expert care, but her full presence, understanding, and unwavering love when it was needed most.
Ansley lived her life putting others before herself. She celebrated people, showed up for them, and invested in their lives in meaningful, lasting ways. Friends remember her as someone who was genuinely kind, deeply authentic, and consistently present. Her smile, her laughter, and her positivity remained, even in difficult moments.
Even in the face of her own challenges, Ansley remained a woman of unwavering faith. She showed those around her what it looks like to carry hope, to fight with courage, and to trust deeply. Her life became a testimony. One that continues to inspire all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gregory R. Thompson, Jr.; her children, Alexa, Camden, Arianna, Adelyn, and Lincoln; her parents, Daoud and Shannon Shakkour; her brother, Alexander Shakkour and his wife, Emily; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will cherish her memory always.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandfather, Jerry Porter, and grandmother, Peggy Porter.
Ansley was more than loved. She was cherished, admired, and deeply respected. Her legacy is not only in what she did, but in how she made people feel. That legacy will continue to live on in every life she touched.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Northlake Church of Christ, 1625 Cooledge Road, Tucker, Georgia.
