

Born December 21, 1926 in Tampa, FL to Mattie Mae Mitchell and George Debbe Davidson. Betty was predeceased by her dearly beloved husband, Meredith Rex (Jack) Emery with whom she shared 43 wonderful years of marriage. Betty was also predeceased by Albert Louis Holliman with whom she shared 11 years of marriage and Georgia Institute of Technology. Louis received a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering while Betty received a Diploma – “Mistress of Patience in Husband Engineering”.
Betty graduated as an honor student from A. L. Miller High School for Girls in 1944 in Macon, GA. She was Bookkeeper for the School Bank and a member of the Beta Club. She also attended evening classes at Georgia State College in Atlanta, GA.
Betty was employed as a Secretary-Steno at Robins Field Air Force Base in Warner Rubins, GA in the Intelligence Section and Supply Section from June 1944 to June 1947. She was employed as a Secretary at Aston Pictures in Atlanta, GA from June 1947 to October 1951. Her employment at the Georgia Division of Lockheed Aircraft Corps. Began in October 1951 she retired from Lockheed as an Administrative Secretary-Sn. in International Marketing. In February 1985 after 33 years when Jack was elected Recorder of Yaarah Shrine. He was Potentate of Yaahrah Shrine in 1991 and Betty was First Lady. Betty enjoyed her voluntary work at Shallowford Presbyterian Church as Receptionist a couple of days a month and Secretary of the Welcoming Committee for about 12 years.
Betty was active in many organizations and really enjoyed much fun and fellowship. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and was Chairman of the Social Committee. Betty was very active in The National Secretaries’ Association (International) from 1967 to 1970. She was initiated into El Tehran Temple No. 122, Daughter of the Nile in 1967 and was elected Princess Badoura in 1977 and Queen in 1980. She served as Jr. Past Queen in 1981. She remained active and received many Supreme Appointments and her 50-year pin in 2017. She was honored to serve as a Docent at the Governor’s Mansion for about twenty years.
She was active as an El Tehran Dancer Goodwill Ambassador and served on many committees. She was honored to serve as General Vice Chairman for the Eighty-First Annual Supreme Session, Supreme Temple, Daughter of the Nile, June 8-12, 1997, held in Atlanta, GA. This took more than four years of extreme planning and was very successful. She was a member of the Past Queens’ Group.
