Douglas was born in Roper, North Carolina on June 5, 1945, to Nellie Oliver and Luke Daniels. Douglas graduated from Plymouth High School and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1965.
Douglas served during the Vietnam War. He took great pride in being a Marine, always faithful, always loyal “Semper Fi”. For his service, he received several metals, citations, and badges during his tours of duty including an Air Medal w/19, Combat Aircrew Insignia w/3, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal w/1, Vietnamese Campaign Medal w/60, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and Marksmanship Badge, Rifle.
In May 2013, Douglas married Patricia A. Daniels. Douglas was a devoted and loving husband, who will be dearly missed. Playing the guitar, listening to Country music, and watching Christian movies and Gun Smoke brought Douglas much joy.
We, the family of Douglas G. Daniels, would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to all who have shown comforting expressions of love, sympathy, and prayers, during the passing of our loved one. Our hearts will always be grateful for your kindness, as we pray for a special blessing to be bestowed upon each and every one of you. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
