Edgar Seth Childs Jr.

Edgar Seth Childs Jr. was born on January 10, 1944, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the proud parents Edgar Childs Sr. and Elizabeth Childs. Edgar embarked on his educational journey at Napier Elementary School, continued to Carter Lawrence Middle School, and graduated from Cameron High School in 1962.

Edgar's work career began at Shoney’s as a butcher. He was later drafted into the United States Army, where he served his country with honor for twenty years, retiring as a Sergeant First Class (E-7). Following his distinguished military service, Edgar continued to serve the public by working for the United States Postal Service for another twenty years before retiring.

Edgar had a passion for camping and playing spades, where he earned a reputation as the number one player. He also loved watching movies, often spending entire days enjoying them. Above all, Edgar was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his loved ones.

In 1997, Edgar met the love of his life and soulmate, Angel. They united in Holy Matrimony in 2004 and remained devoted to each other until his untimely passing. From this union, they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Sierra.

Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Sr. and Elizabeth, his daughter Cynthia, and his brother, James A. Childs.

On June 11, 2024, at approximately 6 p.m., in the comfort of his beautiful home and in the arms of his beloved wife, Edgar heard the voice of the Lord whisper his name. Without hesitation, he answered the call and transitioned to forever be with The Lord.

Edgar will be missed but never forgotten. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving and devoted wife, Angel Childs; his children, Kevin (Veronica), Gwendolyn (Burney), Sierra, Angie, Arnold, Larresa, Laquita (Quinton), Victoria, and Darius; his siblings, Regina Childs, Shirley Carpenter, Kenneth (Tennie), and Dennis; his sister-in-law, Patricia Childs; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
