1934 - 2025
Eleanor, known by all as Ellie, passed away on June 17, 2025.
She was the daughter of the late Irma and Eugene Saabel.
She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Boda, sister Dorothy Little and her husband Charles.
Ellie is survived by her son, Alan Boda (Karen) and daughter Elaine Boda (Mike Adams); and by her grandchildren Brian Boda (Lattie Reddoch), Katherine Warren (Alex), Allison Seman (Walker), and Erika Adams.
Ellie received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music. She was an Elementary Music Educator in the Greenville County South Carolina public schools and an adjunct instructor of flute at Furman University where she taught generations of flute students. Ellie was a long-time musician in the Greenville Symphony playing flute and piccolo. She also played flute and piccolo in the Brevard Music Center Orchestra (BMCO) for many of its summer seasons.
Ellie and her husband Dan were long-time members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenville, SC. In retirement, she and Dan were fixtures in the Furman library and around campus and loved to travel internationally.
Ellie imparted a deep appreciation for music to her students of all ages, many who went on to stellar careers of performing and teaching. She would tell her college flute students as they graduated that they were “ready for the world” and it was now their turn to “pass the torch” to their own students.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorials to either:
• Furman University: “Eleanor and Daniel Boda Scholarship for Music Education”
• Brevard Music Center: “Dan and Ellie Boda Scholarship Fund”
These are scholarships that have been set up in perpetuity and are awarded to students annually. These will continue Ellie’s legacy of keeping music and the arts alive in future generations.
