Gale Inez Schmidt, known as Mom or Momma to her kids, and Mimmie to her grandkids and great-grandkids, unexpectedly passed in her home in Decatur, Georgia on August 31, 2021.
Gale was born in Norcross, Georgia on February 27, 1954 to Pascal and Opal Giles.
Though her life was difficult from an early age, losing her father before her teen years, starting her family while in high school, 3 marriages, 2 divorces, and left a widow in 2015, she made of it the best she knew how. Those who knew her well, knew that she had many medical issues over the years and multiple surgeries during her adult life. Despite some tough times, she always pushed through. She had a kind soul and loving heart. Her feelings and emotions ran deep, when she worried, it was extreme, but when she was happy, it was just as extreme for her. She had an extraordinary ability to see the good in everyone and tried hard to reach out and make amends throughout her life. Her kids believe that she was probably the happiest she’d ever been this past year. She was finally stable in her life, doing things on her own and living her best life. She was a dog lover throughout her life but really doted and loved the ones that she left behind. She loved talking about them and to them as much as possible. They were her pride and joys and they too helped bring her peace over the last decade. Her children pray that she left her earthly body as happy and as peaceful as they saw her this past year. She will be missed.
She is survived by her 5 children, Chris Goss (Corinna), Angel Breitenbach (Rick), Mandy Duke (Jeff), Amber Goss and McKenzie Schmidt; her sisters, Pattie Seiber (Kenny) and “Scooter” Mae McKinney; her 16 grandkids and 2 great-grandkids; cousins, nieces and nephews; her beloved dogs, Diesel, Ace, Poppy, Nugget and Val.
A small memorial service will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home in Tucker, Georgia on Saturday, September, 4, 2021 at 1:00 pm.
