

He was born in Calamine, Arkansas, to Ewell and Celia Hoggard Sullivan. Having received degrees from Arkansas State University and Louisiana State University, he taught Agricultural Economics for several years at L.S.U. before accepting a position as economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta in 1969. Between college programs, he served two years in the U.S. Army. Upon retirement, he was employed as an adjunct professor of economics with Perimeter College.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, sisters, Bonnie Sullivan of Jesup, AR and Virginia Sullivan Hargrove of Heber Springs, AR and brother Billy Sullivan of Calamine, AR.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Janene Collum Sullivan; four children, Bruce E. Sullivan and his wife Melanie Holt Sullivan of Denton, TX, Shannon Sullivan Braselton and husband Herbert B. Braselton, Jr of Braselton, GA, Dr. Lydia Sullivan Arnall and husband Dr. Philip L. Arnall of Blue Ridge, GA, and Dr. Troy D. Sullivan and Dr. Ting Yean Wong of Singapore; twelve grandchildren, Kyle A. Sullivan, USMC, Krista Renee Sullivan, Brooke Sullivan and Tristan C. Sullivan of Denton, TX, Justin T. Braselton, Westley R. Braselton, and Herbert B. (Cody) Braselton, III of Braselton, GA, Darcy Arnall and Ethan P. Arnall of Blue Ridge, and Hanwen Grey Sullivan, Mingwen Lee Sullivan and Suryanni Sullivan of Singapore; as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was devoted to his family and many friends.
Dr. Sullivan was involved in many activities at the Smoke Rise Baptist Church of Stone Mountain, Senior University of Mercer, and travel tours of local senior organizations. Singing was always a pleasure, and he participated in various choral groups.
Visitation will be held at the Floral Hills Funeral Home, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 26. The funeral service will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 27. Interment will follow in Melwood Cemetery, Stone Mountain.
