Mr. Mike Wade, 72, of Tucker, entered peacefully into God’s presence on Sunday, July 21, 2024. He was born George Michael Wade on June 1, 1952, at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Leonar Wade, and his sister, Linda Wade Power. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda Burton Wade, a son and daughter-in-law, Mickey and Jamie Wade, and grandchildren Reilly and Callie. Mike’s extended family included beloved sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was affectionately known by lots of his family as “Uncle Buddy.”
Mike graduated from Walker High School in 1970. He went on to work at various jobs, all in the automotive and tire industry. He retired as the Service Director, Southern Lincoln Mercury, in Decatur, Georgia. After this time, he became involved with Linda in her direct sales business, Premier Designs. He supported her, attending Rallies together where he was so proud of her for the recognitions she received, and was an integral part of trainings held at their home every month. He loved his jewelry ladies, and they loved him! His extracurricular activities included umpiring little league baseball, playing softball, “piddling” in his backyard barn, and cooking! He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also loved music, and was the drummer in a band, the Invaders, during his high school years.
He also was something of a sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Georgia BullDAWGS, but tops on his list was watching and cheering on his favorite baseball player, his grandson Reilly, who he fondly referred to as “Slugger”, and his favorite softball player, his granddaughter Callie, who he fondly referred to as “Lefty”. He was so proud of his son Mickey, as well as his two grandchildren, and if you were around him much, you were sure to hear him bragging on them! When they could fit it in, Mike and Linda enjoyed vacationing at any beach, but their favorite spot was the Outer Banks, specifically Avon and Ocracoke Island. If the beach and seafood were calling, Mike would be there! He was a lover of animals and cherished all of the dogs he had over the years, and treated them as a true member of his family.
If you spent any time with Mike, I’m sure you had a laugh or two. He loved life and will be sorely missed.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 14, noon-3:00pm, in the Fellowship Hall of Living Grace Lutheran Church, 1812 Cooledge Road, Tucker, GA 30084. There will be a service, immediately followed by lunch and fellowship.
