Harriet Stack Moore passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026. Harriet was an Atlanta native born on April 25th, 1940. She was the daughter of Isla Johnston Stack and N.C. Stack Jr. Harriet was a graduate of Druid Hills High School in Decatur. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a Degree in Journalism and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, a member of the Woman’s Glee Club and was the secretary of Gamma Sigma Sigma. After college, Harriet obtained her orthoptist certification from the Emory University Orthoptic Department. She was a member of the American Association of Certified Orthoptists and saw patients for ophthalmologists in the Atlanta area for over 40 years. Harriet was a member of the Chapter D Joseph Habersham D.A.R and a longtime member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and chancel choir. Harriet is survived by two nieces, three great nieces and two great nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Isla Johnston Stack Nursing Scholarship at LaGrange College, Oak Grove United Methodist Church, or the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org/research). Funeral services will be held at Oak Grove Methodist Church on January 21st, 2026 at 11:00am.
