Mrs. Irene Marie Hughes died peacefully in her sleep on May 15, 2014. Mrs. Hughes was married for 57 years to Richard M. Hughes, who passed away in 2002. Mrs. Hughes was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on September 18, 1924. The Hughes’ moved from Long Island, New York, to Georgia in 1956. Mrs. Hughes most recently resided in Tucker, Georgia. Many of her years here were spent in Brookhaven, Georgia, raising her four children. Mrs. Hughes is survived by her sister, Rita Kirsch of Long Island, New York, sons Richard and wife Wanda, Joseph and wife Mary, and Gerald, and daughter Kathleen Singleton, grandchildren Allen Hughes and wife Amanda, Karen Hughes, Scott Singleton and wife Lucia, Sarah Singleton, Tony Willard, and Tim Willard, and great-grand children Landon, Levi, and Evan Hughes.
