My thoughts and prayers in this difficult time are with our children, Christine, James and Chantal, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended families, and Ida.🙏

The Haefeles had a tradition of putting on different skits for weddings and other celebrations as I recall, and this captures the spirit perfectly. Also - some things you can’t unsee..  think dad and his brothers should’ve shaved their bellies first.

Nothing was like that Atari 2400. He loved games of all types. Pong, pole position and others would fill bonding time. Later it moved to dungeons and dragons type games on a PC.

A great friend throughout Andy’s time on earth , they worked together at a few places back in the day in Connecticut. These two would call each other now and then as they got older and they both would start with the phrase “hey , is your finger broken? Figured that’s why you didn’t call. “

A Master Machinist by trade.. he always had lot of tools. And he liked to share how to use them and teach the tinkering and fixing. Here he is in 1978 w sidekick Jimmy fixing the bathroom.

Dad was born and raised in Scranton - one of ten kids to wonderful Gram. His father passed when he was very young. Today he is survived by one brother (Jack) and two sisters (Linda & Joan).  

Jim had four kids - Christine, James, Chantal (Gabrielle) and Debbie (from second marriage to Patricia). The kids and so many nieces and nephews  survive him. As well as many grandchildren. 

Predeceased by brother Freddie, Billy, Eddie and sisters Peg, Sis, Shirley. Rest all peacefully in spirit.

Pops had a love of gokarting that went around with his kid-like spirit. It never left him. Throughout his life as a parent of young kids, or in his last days - it was a love. 

He tried his hand at dirt-karting circuit for a couple years as well, feeling the thrill

Goofing, making others laugh was another calling of dads. Laughter was… life. He used to sign some things “lots of Luck, Love Laughter “ intertwined on the same capital “L”

One of the first places I can remember living w dad was 33 baker street in West Haven CT. My sister and I can be seen, as well as our Meme- but also the Red Pontiac Lemans. He loved that car.

As a father, he would blast music with us kids and sing loudly - mostly Elvis, but plenty others as well. Introduced me to the Eagles (favorite all time band) and many others.  Some of His Elvis collection has travelled through several moves up in Connecticut. Ida recounted how to the end his favorite was always Elvis - and we played it loudly for him in his final days.

Dad had a love of trains and building. From before the birth of his kids, throughout their childhood, and wherever he moved. He continued this passion. While many will come back home with us, this Marklin he sent my way years ago as he knew it was always my favorite.

It’s how he met his first wife Gabrielle and they became parents of Chrissy (1970),  Jimmy (1971) and Chantal (1976).

Jim and I lived next door to each other on Penn Ave in Scranton.  His family was the first on the block to have a black and white television.  Many of the neighborhood kids sat on the living room floor watching cartoons on the tv.  On Friday night, Fred and Ed put the tv on the back porch and made popcorn.  We all came to watch like an outdoor movie.  We caught bumblebees and lightening bugs in mayonnaise jars on the fence line.  We went to all day movies (Westerns) at the Roosevelt theatre on weekends.  Jim and Billy liked to sit in the first row and look up at the screen.  Jim was with me playing "follow the leader" when I fell into fresh cement when they were building St Pauls Church and a Father had to dig me out with a coal shovel.  I also remember going to Zumos penny candy store or Ruane's corner story and smoking cigarettes under a grapevine with Jim and Paul Demack and going to their house to see the trainset under the Christmas tree.   I think we were six or seven years old then.  When I moved to the Hill section, I still went to the old neighborhood to visit Jim and Bill.  By then the Haefele's moved behind Ben & Jeany's.  I remember eating sugar or mustard sandwiches and cool aid from a pail using a dipper.  Jims's mom was always welcoming.  Then I remember them moving to Adams Ave and after that on Monroe Ave.  We stayed friends a long time.  He was a good guy and I'll miss him.
