He was born in Atlanta the son of the late James A. and Anna Brown Meers.
Mr. Meers retired from the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shadie Conner Meers of Tucker; his daughter and son-in-law, Miriam and Bill Palmer of Stone Mountain; his sons and daughter-in-law, Tim and Erica Meers of Stone Mountain, and Mike Meers; his sister, Harriett Baity; his grandchildren, Jennifer Meers, Jamie Hannah, Travis Palmer, James Meers, and Samuel Meers; his great grandchildren, Rebecca Meers, Ashley Meers, A.J. Meers, Madison Meers, Addlyn Meers, and Ryan Meers.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Floral Hills Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
