James (Jim) Michael Wells, son, brother, husband and father, passed away on December 16, 2013. He will be remembered for his passionate interest in acquiring and sharing information. Jim could (and did) talk about music, politics, photography, computers and LSU football. Interested in the strangest things, Jim collected silly, whimsical, and bizarre newspaper articles and internet stories which he shared. It was Jim who emailed everyone when it was “Talk Like a Pirate” Day or any other random information he found amusing.
Jim always followed his interests. Over the years, he was an off-shore welder, a photographer, a computer repairman and Gwinnett County Board of Equalization alternate. Jim was supportive of his wife as she advanced her career. When their children reached school age, Jim was a trend setter as a “house dad”. He took care of the home work, carpooling, after school activities and meal planning. Jim also volunteered at his children’s high school and was an active supporter of the school’s marching band, even after his children graduated.
Jim was born December 12, 1952. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Wells; children, Henry (Hank) and Olivia Wells; his father, Douglas Wells; sisters, Katie Wells, Suzanne Adey (Rick), Carol Wallace, and Diane Legendre (David); brother David Wells (Claudia); and fourteen nephews and nieces. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice “Bunny” Wells.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Floral Hills Funeral Home, Tucker, Georgia. Four years ago, Jim discovered a new love, Hank’s dog, Budda. Together, they spent many hours sitting in the front yard watching birds, squirrels and cars. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Open Arms Dog Rescue, P.O. Box 2436, Tucker, GA 30085 or [email protected].
