

Lola Ann Wood Mays, 82, Decatur, GA, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Born in Humboldt, TN, and raised in Trenton, TN, where she played guard for the Peabody High Golden Tide, Mays was the daughter of the late Louise and Carl Wood.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose generosity of spirit, empathy, and sass will be sorely missed by her family and friends. From 1971 to 1992 Mays worked as a data processor and then stenographer at Emory University. She was a member of Scott Boulevard Baptist Church in Decatur for 53 years.
Survivors include her husband, William Mays, of Decatur; a son, Warren (Noreen) Mays of Maryville, TN; three daughters, Nelda Mays (Rick Jernigan) of Decatur, Kelly J. Mays (Hugh Jackson) of Las Vegas, NV, and Lola Susanne (Joe) Farrington of Smyrna, GA; five grandchildren, Haley Mays, Stephanie Mays, Jared (Zoë) Mays, William Noah Jernigan, and Lola Hannah Farrington; two sisters, Dorothy Koffman of Memphis, TN and Marilyn Aldridge of High Point, NC, and a brother, Carl Wood of Lebanon, TN.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Floral Hills Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
