

Maryann Tew, 69 of Auburn Georgia, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, January 4, 2018 following a courageous 10 year battle with breast cancer. Maryann was born on December 4, 1948 in Endicott, New York.
She graduated from Sacred Heart College in Belmont, North Carolina with a degree in Education. After graduation, she began her teaching career in Charlotte, North Carolina and taught briefly in Davenport, Iowa. Finding her true passion, she retired after 33 years of teaching from the Gwinettt County School System.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, inspiring teacher and friend. She loved spending time with her family and all their children. Maryann and her husband loved to travel. Her favorite place was at the beach in Longboat Key, Florida with her husband Joe.
Maryann is survived by her husband Joe of 33 years, her son Ian Logan (Sandy), grandchildren Haven, Adam and Asher and great-grandson Brentley of Buford, Georgia., her daughter Alicia Rice (Alan) and grandchildren Timothy and Daniel of Melbourne, Florida. She is also survived by her mother Anne Vitkus, her siblings Karen Mehlinger (Bill), Tim Vitkus (Terri), Tina Williams (Willie) and Tom Vitkus (Stephanie). Maryann was preceded in death by her father Ed.
Visitations will be held at 10:00am and service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday January 9, 2018 at Floral Hills Funeral Home 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, Georgia. 30084. Burial will be at Floral Hill Memory Gardens. Relatives and friends are welcome to a reception at Floral Hills Funeral Home at 1:00pm following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made be made in Maryann’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
