Merlin Dean Beck (Known as Dean) of Brookhaven, GA passed away on December 26, 2021 at the age of 87. He was born on October 2, 1934 in Dawsonville, GA where he grew up learning the value of hard work and enjoying the outdoors.
He worked as a watch maker for most of his life and developed a well-respected business in his craft.
He was actively involved in Rehoboth Baptist Church
He is preceded in death by his Parents Hoyt and Hazel Beck.
He is survived by his Wife Mary Beck, Son Ken Beck, Daughter-In-Law Karen Beck, Grandsons Travis and Justin Beck and their wives, 3 Great Grand Children, Sister Doris Taylor, and Brother Royce Beck.
Even after being stricken with polio at the age of 21, Dean didn’t allow life to beat him down. He built a thriving business and cared for his family. Dean loved to eat. Specifically he loved going to restaurants even though his wife is an excellent cook. The direct family will be celebrating him at his favorite restaurant after the funeral service.
The family would like to thank a special nurse, Sharon Agbor for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Dean’s honor to either Rehoboth Baptist Church or Alzheimer’s Research (https://www.alz.org/). Although Dean did not have Alzheimer’s we know it would be special to him.
A visitation for Merlin will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084, followed by a funeral service 2:00 PM.
