Michelle,didn't know Ron except for his name on the envelopes that contained the Christmas cards you sent me for a few years. Now that I've had a chance to read all the condolences, I'm glad to see how much happiness he gave you.

Ronald, last week was your 69th birthday.  I want to wish you a happy birthday and to let you know that I have missed you so much that my heart aches for you. As I now wear your ring around my neck, I have this year add a small simple cross. It is small enough to slip through your ring. I got it to show that as it slip back and forth through your ring, it shows that Christ is in you and that you are in Christ. Happy birthday my love, I miss you very much.

Knew this gentleman back in the day. met him at the skating rink in alexander city. a gentleman he was and soft spoken, he is being well taken care of

I will miss my dear sweet brother but I know I'll see him again. How he loved Jesus and he is with Him now and is at peace. Michelle, you did everything in your power to help Ronald and make him comfortable. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

My Dear First Cousin Ronald, I pray you always knew-somehow-I remembered and retold  the dear memory to others over the years about the period of our lives when you and Don stayed with 'us' at Lake Placid Apts.in Marietta, (across the hall from my in-laws) when you both worked at the newly created 'family' concrete plant-44 yrs ago-You & Don together were so delightfully funny. THAT is my last 'grown-up' memory I have of you I choose to remember-before the horrific car accident I see as changing your life forever. Just as my 2nd born older brother's horrific accident that changed the course of his life. He was a HS senior-you, our cousin, were only @ 3 yrs older than he, at the time of your life changing accident. Within one year my 2 brothers-Don, Dean and now You, Ronald, are gone from the ones that love you and will forevermore. Prayers & Thoughts to you, Michelle-for your loss. Thank you for loving & taking care of Ronald as you did. God Bless.

This is one of the last known pictures taken of Ronald which was taken by his son Cameron.  Ronald is in the background dressed in a blue shirt and is obviously quite feeble; Donald is in the front in a red shirt.

I have been thinking about Ronald this past week and today I thought I would Google him and to my sadness discovered his obituary. I met Ronald at Mrytle Beach in the sixties right before he left for Vietnam. We dated when he came back for awhile. Ronald was a really good looking guy and always treated me like I was special. My family thought a lot of Ronald and always enjoyed his visits. He had wanted to be a chief back then and I often wondered if he ever did. I have a picture of us in my sister's wedding and he is in a tux and I will always remember the preacher's wife coming to me and saying..."he is gorgeous." My sympathy goes out to  Michelle and his kids. Donald, your brother truly loved you and talked about you a lot back then. This news has truly saddened me.

I feel great sadness for you and your family in the sudden and unexpected loss of Ronald.  

Whenever I conversed with Ronald, he conveyed a gentle spirit, a positive attitude, as well as an upbeat sense of humor in spite of his afflictions.  

Be reminded that because of your consistent and loving care of Ronald throughout the years, you gave him the the gift of security and encouragement he needed to continue "running the race."

Even though he will be greatly missed, be assured that Ronald is now experiencing "joy unspeakable" in his new heavenly home.

Be kind to yourself during your grieving process in the coming days and weeks ahead.  You will be in my thoughts and prayers often.

May you rest in the arms of your beloved Savior Mr. Ronald.  I will miss our times together.  You always brought joy into my day when I was with you and Mrs. Michelle.  Michelle, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I knew the Hardy Twins and also knew their Dad. As with everyone who lived in the mill village, they were honest and hard working people. I do know that every time I saw the Hardy Twins they always had something nice to say and were almost always smiling. Their presence was infectious and you always went away feeling better after hanging around with them for any length of time.

There is so many things I could say but it would not be the truth because I could not cover it all. So I will just enter some of my poems to sort of point a finger for you.

Sylacauga

There is a town not far from here,
Of which the folks there are all so dear.
The people there give festive measure,
And take care to bring cheer and pleasure.
Origin for a town of which will leave a saga,
Provides fond memories with the name Sylacauga.
Oft times I think on days of old,
When I traveled with news of which was sold.
Cold mornings on my bike I'd hit the road,
Carrying on a bike for Birmingham a load.
How could life pleasure arrive from thus,
When dogs would chase and cause us to cuss.
The buzzards roost by its definition,
Caused a child to gain his own recognition.
Familiar thoughts come back strong,
Which guides my memories of a many wrong.
On my way of memories abound,
To unravel the mysteries of life so profound.
Can it be a farce a child so wild,
Will find a means to calm a world so beguiled.
His travels now broad with many indecisions,
Brings peace to all with simple division.
Go forth now with strength in knowing,
Able and well with life you are showing.

The Paper Boys

In the Mill Village there was a pair of twin;
Both carried their papers on bikes made by Schwin.
An old bike Donald used he had to make a start;
But when he saved his money he had to make it his part.
At City Tire, Mr. Craig opened up a charge;
The Schwin Donald bought to carry the news and discharge.
The boss at the News by the name of Lucy Pelham;
Had a dog which stayed with her helping her to sell'm.
The dog, a bassett hound, had the name of Thumper;
We scolded him and caused him to be a jumper.
It was cold at times in Sylacauga there;
Donald's breath froze his scarf causing him some care.
Donald won a trip to Florida in a paper sale contest;
Ronald went for Donald, he had a summer school test.
The winter caused Donald to warm himself at home you know;
With legs propped over heater Donald's pants begin to glow.
Ronald came home one morning his body black and blue;
He had a wreck on the hill, I tell you this is true.
Dogs give chase to the paper boys at times;
Who worked so hard for the nickels and dimes.
Nothing can compare the smell of the bakery adorning;
Stuffing the papers an having donuts early in the morning.
Richard went with Donald, a new route he had to show;
Donald is a white and Richard is a Negro.
On their route was a Medical Clinic in it with two parts;
One side had the whites, the other side had the darks.
Donald carried the news on the side of the darks for billing;
In Birmingham at the time they sure were a killing.
I have told you the story without any ploys;
About a time in the Mill Village when there was Paper Boys.

The Game Of Life

The game of life as we are told,
About a man whose cloak was sold.
He fought for those down and out.
By his words profound he did shout.
He spoke of heaven the kingdom come,
And defended himself with only mum.
As we all play this game of life,
Know your words to prevent the strife.
Truth is spoken throughout the world.
We watched the winds as they swirled.
Ask why this wind as tempest tossed,
Could cause such grief values lost.
Blow me away the words were spoken,
Did cause the damage all things broken.
Least you know a God you are,
Your words do carry to afar.
This man of life became the Master,
Was nailed to a cross great disaster.

It Is

Have you ever wondered of life's short trail?
That leads you through this earth so frail.
Beside the way are shadows deem,
Which cause the man to grieve so grime.
Along this way we meet good friend,
Only to find within them it has to end.
A hope of pleasure will abound,
And bonds of love with kin profound.
Bonds to friend and family slip away,
With each of trials which can betray.
This be the way of ancient man,
Troubled by hardships we do command.
Brings forth and carry us to the grave,
The events that we face and do behave.
We name our sorrows with each breath we take,
But fail to notice of which forsakes.
Given in life a sweet accord to bare,
Our word that calls out with woeful dare.
A call for peace in war a torn land,
Are broken down by the words of man.
Life banners high of the soldiers stand,
Against a foe unsightly and grand.
Fight the battle with needless word,
Will find destruction from events absurd.
Defend our home with the way I am now,
Described with glory is life's ship bow.
Man names this life by the way it is,
And faces the day just like a whiz.

Ronald, may you rest in peace now....I will miss you....you were a definite part of me...born almost at the same moment.  Your twin brother.

Ronald Lee Hardy was an identical twin brother of my husband, Donald Ray Hardy.  He will be sadly missed by his twin brother and all his family.
