William “Larry” Milam, was born in Atlanta, at Crawford Long Hospital on November 2, 1946 to Helen and James Milam. He grew up in Atlanta’s West End neighborhood, graduating from Brown High School in 1964 and from Georgia State University in 1969, with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree. Following his graduation from GSU, he served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971 as a Tank Commander, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Following his service in the U.S. Army, he embarked on a career in real estate in Metro Atlanta. Retiring in 1994, he enjoyed travelling, living in the Florida Keys for an extended period of time and residing part-time in Augusta, GA. For the past several years, he lived in Decatur, GA. He was predeceased by his parents and survived by his brother Roland Milam of Dauphin Island, AL, his beloved cat Rocky and a multitude of friends. Graveside service planned on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Floral Hills Memory Gardens on Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker, GA, immediately followed by a celebration of life at the Moonshadow Tavern in Tucker, GA. Officiated by Rev. Jonathan Spencer. Please wear your most comfortable pair of jeans and t-shirt, as that would have been Larry’s preference. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry’s memory to the Tucker American Legion, Post 207 are welcomed.
