

Dr. Wilma L Krause, age 85, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, she obtained her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1956. As a pediatrician specializing in genetics, she was at the forefront of cutting edge genetic research at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and later at the University of New Mexico, University of Iowa, and Emory University. Before retiring, she was the medical director of Genetics at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Scottish Rite Hospital).
An avid traveler, Dr. Krause fulfilled her lifelong dream of visiting every continent on the planet. Dr. Krause was passionate about music, art, and the environment. She was a firm supporter of many humanitarian causes.
Wilma was born to Edward and Frieda Krause on May 5th, 1931. Wilma is preceded in death by her son Robert F. Castle, Jr. She is survived by her children, Mrs. Caroline Hicks, (Dana) of Charlotte, NC, Mrs. Claire Newbern, (David) of Avondale Estates, GA, and Mr. Frederic Castle(Terri)of Stockbridge, GA, four grandchildren: Albert Castle, Robert F. Castle, III, Mariclaire Hicks, and Ian Hicks, and two great grandchildren: Kylie Castle and Lily Castle.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 3rd, at 7:30 PM. at the Avondale Towne Cinema. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America
