Anna was born on October 30, 1961, in Flagstaff, Arizona, to her parents Joe S. and Otillia (Tillie) Hernandez. She graduated from Flagstaff High School and later earned her teaching degree at Pima College. On November 28, 1992, she married the love of her life, Barry Ballentine.
Anna dedicated her career to childcare education and administration, finding joy in working with children for many wonderful years at Kindercare and La Petite Academy. Later, she pursued and enjoyed providing customer service at Dillard’s.
She had a passion for spending time with her family, especially sitting on her front porch with Barry taking in the amazing skyline view and talking all night long! Anna enjoyed her Disney and Hallmark movies, attending concerts—especially Brooks and Dunn—country dancing, and making her famous holiday tamales with her family, she so loved Christmas time. Anna was a Dallas Cowboys fan! She also cherished her extensive chili décor and refrigerator magnet collection, gifted by many loved ones from their travels around the country.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Joe S. and Otillia (Tillie) Hernandez; her brother, Joe (Ronnie) Hernandez and her brother in law Tom Gordon; and her father-and mother-in-law, M.L. (Mickey) and Winifred (Nelle) Ballentine.
She is survived by her loving husband, Barry Ballentine; her stepdaughters, Corina Herron, Kelly Ballentine (Eric) Barfield, and Mechelle (Matt) Ringnell; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She is also survived by her siblings: Yvonne Mercado, Debra (Ralph) Juarez, Patricia (David) Lozano, Richard (Becky) Hernandez, Charlie (Rose) Hernandez, Kathy Hernandez, and Lillian (Russell) Montoya; along with many cherished nephews, nieces, extended family members, and dear friends who will hold her memory close.
