

He was born in Barron County Rice Lake, Wisconsin on August 20, 1940 to parents Edwin Joseph Dahlstrom and Virginia Geraldine White. He was the 2nd oldest out of 4 siblings. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1963. He graduated in 1970 from Wisconsin State University with a Bachelor’s of Science (BS) double major in Business and Psychology. He married SunTan in March 1986 and they were married for 40 years. They adopted their daughter Virginia in May 1992. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and drinking mango margaritas. Family knew him as "Uncle Bun" and friends knew him as "Bernie".
He is survived by spouse, SunTan (Ham) Dahlstrom; children, Janette (Olson) Sommerhauser, David Olson, Mark Dahlstrom, and Virginia (Dahlstrom) Harayda; grandchildren, Chris Quinton-James Fellows, Jason Fellows, and Julian Harayda; brother, James Dahlstrom; nieces, Elizabeth (Dahlstrom) Shaar, Christy Dahlstrom and Francee (Eugene) Jakobi; great niece, Renee (Jakobi) Maphie; nephew, Travis Taps Rusin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Virginia (White) Dahlstrom, his brother, John Dahlstrom, and his sister, Florence Mae Cecelia (Dahlstrom) Mylan, and his sister-in-law Dianne Theresa (Kutil) Dahlstrom.
A memorial service will be held at East Lawn Palms, February 27, 2026 at 11:00 am. Followed by Military Honors outdoors at 12:00 pm. Reception will be held at Sachiko Sushi (1101 N. Wilmot). All friends and family are welcome.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Peppi's House - TMC Hospice for the care they provided to Bernard and his family. The family also thanks the East Lawn Palms Mortuary for their kindness and wonderful assistance with the Memorial arrangements. Additional thanks to Pastor Luke Pak and Mrs. Pak for officiating the memorial service and the unending support from our friends at Tucson True Light Church.
