Betty Lou Janes

Betty passed away peacefully at her home in Tucson, AZ surrounded by her beloved family and friends who were by her side at the time of her passing. Betty was born on January 20th, 1938 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to John and Nellie Ingram.

Betty had many passions in life but perhaps her biggest passion was being a member of Tucson Primitive Baptist Church. Betty was a member of the Tucson Primitive Baptist Church since 1995 where she met many lifelong friends along with her husband Jim Janes. Betty and Jim married on February 19th, 1999. Betty worked at Dillard’s department store for several years where she enjoyed interacting with coworkers and helping customers. Betty retired from Dillard’s in 2004. After her retirement, Betty was called to pursue a new path in life as a caregiver to elderly and special needs individuals. In her final days, Betty recalled many special memories that she shared with the people that she cared for. In her spare time Betty enjoyed painting, poetry, camping with her loving husband and dog, talking on the phone with friends and relatives as well as writing and singing verses.

Betty was the devoted and loving wife of Jim Janes for 19 years. Betty is survived by her children, Jim Barnett and his wife Jody of San Diego, CA; Beth Smith and her husband Will of Tucson, AZ; Christi Terry of Rome, GA, Mike Janes of Tucson, AZ and Matt Janes and his wife Sherry of Rome, GA. Betty is also survived by her grandchildren Kimberly, Brian, Brandi, Parker, Austin, Allison, Christopher, Eric, Justin, Anthony, Bethany, Niresha, Rodney and Demonte. Other loving family members include Ryan Redford and Trent Tharp.

Visitation services will be held on Sunday, October 14th at 4:00 PM at Tucson Primitive Baptist Church, located at 5921 E Lee St., Tucson, AZ 85712.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15th at 10:30 AM at Tucson Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Tim Janes and Elder Norman Jones. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, located at 5801 E Grant Rd, Tucson AZ, 85712.
