Carl was born on November 29, 1929, to Ray and Muriel Fletcher in Detroit Michigan. After graduating from Detroit Mercy High School in 1946, he went on to study Accounting at the University of Detroit. After graduation, Carl was hired by Lafayette Steel (in Detroit) where he worked for over 25 years.
After graduation he also met, through his sister Therese, the love of his life Barbara Wilson. They were married in 1952 and had four children: David, Denise, Steven, and Bryan. Carl was a wonderful and devoted father and husband. He set a strong example of living his life through hard work, faith, fun and family. They resided in the Detroit area including Livonia and Farmington Hills.
Carl and Barb enjoyed many family vacations including trips to Florida to visit relatives and joining Barb’s parents at their house near Walnut Lake for Sunday dinners. Carl was the dad who took his kids and their friends sledding at Sorrows Hill or to play baseball at the local elementary ball field. A great time was always had by all! When together, smiles and laughter could be heard as the family was entertained by his sharp sense of humor.
In 1981, Carl and Barb moved to Tucson Arizona where they started the second half of their journey as a family. Carl worked at TA Caid & Sons for almost twenty years, retiring in 2000 at the age of 71. Their six grandchildren Michelle, Jennifer, Lee, Andrew, Jeff and Jaclyn were cherished by Carl and Barb and shared in many family dinners, outings and trips to Hawaii.
Carl was predeceased by his wife, Barbara and son, Steven. He is survived by his son David, daughter Denise (Shane Haywood) and son Bryan (Carla) as well as his six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family requests that donations be made to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona https://www.communityfoodbank.org/.
A graveside service for Carl will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E Grant Rd, Tucson, AZ 85712.
