

Carolyn King Emery, 90, passed away peacefully on November 26,2024. Born on December 28, 1933, she was the beloved daughter of Constance and Wheeler King. Carolyn spent her early years in Montclair, New Jersey, graduating from Montclair High School before earning her teaching degree from Wheaton College.
In 1956, Carolyn married Richard B. Emery. They built a life filled with love and purpose over 50 years of marriage. They resided in Bisbee, Arizona; Montclair, New Jersey; Essex Fells, New Jersey, and Roseland, New Jersey before retiring to Tucson, Arizona in 1990.
Carolyn began her career as a schoolteacher in Bisbee, Arizona. Beyond her professional life, she was deeply committed to serving her community. She volunteered with the Montclair Junior League, the Essex Fells Garden Club, and St. Peter’s Church Altar Guild. After relocating to Tucson, Carolyn continued her dedication to helping others by volunteering with the American Diabetes Association.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Susan Payne (Claud), Jill Harrington (Marcus), and Elizabeth Emery (Christopher McGinnis), as well as her six cherished grandchildren. Carolyn’s legacy of kindness and service as well as her sense of humor, her chocolate chip cookies, the twinkle in her eyes and her lifelong love of dancing will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carolyn’s name to the American Diabetes Association.
