It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles “Chuck” Diaz, 87, on May 25, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on August 3, 1937, Chuck was a loving husband, father, grandfather, entrepreneur, and friend. He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Gloria Diaz, whom he lovingly called “Mama.”
Chuck was predeceased by his beloved uncles, Danny and Pancho, who were important figures in his life.
A proud veteran, Chuck served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959 as a radar operator, a time that sparked his lifelong passion for aviation. His love for flying and the skills learned in the military helped him become a small aircraft pilot, which he excelled at. Over the course of his life, Chuck wore many hats—he was the owner of several bars and restaurants, the author of four books, including his own memoir titled "My American History", and became a respected entrepreneur. One of his proudest achievements was implementing a Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) system for the U.S. government and starting a manufacturing consulting company, a testament to his innovative spirit and work ethic.
For the last 35 years of his life, Chuck was deeply passionate about politics. He started a newsletter that evolved into his TV and radio show, Speak Up America, where he voiced his opinions and rallied others to think critically about the world around them. His political influence extended through his books, websites, and social media platforms, where he continued to engage with his audience until the end. Chuck was a man of deep convictions and patriotism and always sought to educate and inform others.
Music was another cornerstone of Chuck’s life. He had a great ear for jazz, growing up listening to artists such as Bud Shank, Art Pepper, and Shorty Rogers. Chuck’s musical talents were wide-ranging; he could play the piano, drums, maracas, and more. He was always eager to share his love for music. Chuck’s natural athleticism enabled him to become a nationally ranked tennis player in his youth. He continued to play tennis and golf throughout his life. He was passionate about flying planes and discussing aviation with his friends. His enthusiasm inspired others to learn and he gave many people the opportunity to fly with him.
Chuck’s faith in God, generosity, and larger-than-life personality made him a beloved figure to all who knew him. He was the life of every party, always offering others the best experiences life could offer. He had a keen sense of humor, and his sayings have lived on in the hearts and minds of many, continuing to influence those who were lucky enough to hear them. He was also a strong believer in a work ethic based on integrity, and although he had strict guidelines in life, they were always driven by love and a desire to see others succeed.
Chuck’s love for children was sincere. He often sought out ways to offer them opportunities to learn and provide a path to a successful future. His wisdom, generosity, and love for life will leave a lasting impact on all who were fortunate to cross his path.
A feature of Chuck that will forever be remembered are his iconic hats and dark glasses—always worn with pride and a symbol of his larger-than-life presence.
Chuck leaves behind a legacy of love, influence, and resilience. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A private memorial service will be held in his honor. The family would also like to thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences and support during this difficult time.
Chuck’s memory will continue to inspire, and his spirit will forever be with those who loved him.
