We’ve been reflecting on many memorable times with Chip—Mostly Chip and Karen but sometimes just Chip 😊  you could count on Chip to be a ‘steady’ and calm presence. Plus his interest in nature and the out doors was impressive. We see this especially up at the cabin. All of the beautiful irises and rose of sharon trees are thanks to Chip. Also, he never met a rock that he didn’t like 😊😊. You can see Chip’s rock creations at the cabin and also at their home.  He also had a talent for carving the Thanksgiving turkey— as long as he got the drumsticks!   Thanks for sharing your life Chip. We love you, Dave and Virg

To Karen and the Diebold Family,
Chip was a wonderful addition to Karen and the Diebold/Poston  family and to Milt and Jessie Walling  Families .  Chip was a warm friendly person who enjoyed life and all the people he surrounded himself with.  Chip could talk to anyone and you always came away feeling like he cared about you and others.  He was always ready  to help in anyway he could.  My dad and mom also appreciated Chip as they had connections from New Jersey  and the fact that Grandad Walling had a background like Chip in title work and real estate.  Both specialized in selling vacant land.  I remember Chip helping  my dad with the Heber property and Virgin Village project.  Great memories of a wonderful person who had many talents and shared them freely with family, clients and friends over the years.  I loved talking to Chip as we could talk about anything and  enjoyed many time together at family gatherings.  During these past years we would talk on the phone.  I loved it when I would call Chip he would know my voice and say  “Hi Uncle John”. Our  LOVE  to Karen and the Diebold Family in this loss .
What I would say to Chip if I could call him, Chip well done my friend.

Chip, or “Thumper” as my sister and I lovingly referred to him as, was a great uncle. He was very patient and thoughtful about his questions and conversation. Not only that but he was patient when explaining to me how to drive my Chevy truck in 4wd and how to go over tough terrain because he was so experienced. I was in my 20s so I know it took a lot of patience. He took me for a drive because it was so important to him that I get the proper training in a difficult situation. Chip had a great sense of humor and was always laughing at our family get togethers and holidays. I always enjoyed watching him eat because he was very meticulous about peeling an orange, cracking open cashews or savoring every last bite of his dinner. I also have lots of hilarious memories of Chip like when he got stuck in the snow in Greer, or when Karen and he went exploring and found a “Nocapin”  /No Camping sign and told us about it. He loved the desert and he loved to explore it and learn about it. I was also always envious of his plant nurturing skills. He was a great gardener and loved all kinds of different vegetation. Chip was also, as Karen is, a big UofA basketball fan and would attend the season with my parents and Karen-  before that, my grandparents. He always seemed excited to be there.
