Concetta Josephine Buckwich, 85, of Tucson, passed away on September 1, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, in April of 1990. Her survivors include her children: Ray (Lorraine), Don (Mary), Beth (Doug) Stein, Barbara Rogers; six grandchildren: Ariana, Alyssa Paige, Olivia, Cita, James, Joey; one sister: Grace Cuculo of New Jersey, plus many other loving relatives and friends. Connie was raised in the Silver Lake section of Belleville, New Jersey with her eight siblings. She married Ray Buckwich in 1946. During the early years of her marriage she worked at Tung Sol Electric Company in Bloomfield, NJ, where her husband worked as a firesetter. She rapidly advanced to the point of being a supervisor and a shop steward with the AFL-CIO Union. She and my dad made many friendships from that factory that continued for many years. Connie was very active in her church, St. Thomas the Apostle, in Bloomfield, NJ. She was President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus called The Columbiettes, being very active in numerous social functions. Connie then started a job with Shop Rite and quickly became a very popular employee, usually known on a first name basis by customers. After leaving New Jersey in 1978, moving to Tucson, she continued to work at various jobs around town. Her hobbies included needlepoint and gardening and she was excellent at both. Our mom will be greatly missed but it is comforting to know she is with her husband once again. Visitation will be held at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Road, on Friday, September 7, from 6:00-9:00 p.m.
