Dale Eugene Walz was born in Little Falls, MN on September 16, 1964 to Ralph and Virgie Lou (Prichard) Walz. He grew up near Pierz, MN on the family farm that provided him many cherished memories, life lessons, narrow escapes from childhood “fun” and an abundance of stories to tell.
As a child, Dale’s dream was to grow up and become a police officer. At the age of 19 that dream came true and he got to live it for 21 years. First serving in his hometown, then onto Randall, MN and finishing his career in Baxter, MN, retiring as Captain. He deeply treasured his work in law enforcement and had said clocking in for his shifts only ever brought him joy.
During his career, Dale also had the opportunity to serve two terms as a Minnesota State Representative for district 12-A from 2001-2004. He valued this opportunity to explore change and make improvements to the lives of the people he served. Both his career avenues brought him meaningful friendships that he cherished for the rest of his life.
After retirement, Dale became an entrepreneur; starting a gun smithing business, teaching conceal and carry classes, serving papers for local law offices, and writing various published books.
Despite his successes during his career, Dale would say his greatest accomplishment was his children. Dale became a father for the first time in 1989, to daughter Ashley, then daughter Bethany in 1990 and son, Christian in 1994. Dale took great pride in being a father and could always be counted on to share his entertaining stories, pass on knowledge, introduce the best music, mildly tease, and offer encouragement. He would always tell his children and his friends how proud he was of his kids and he truly meant it.
Dale spent the last few years of his life on a great adventure moving across the country with his true love and fiancée, Lisa. Together they made a home in Tucson, AZ with their cats and their little dog.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Walz.
He is survived by his children; Ashley (Abel) Oqueli, Bethany (Anthony) Wissbroecker, and Christian Walz; Fiancée, Lisa Fischer; his sisters, Virginia (Brian) Faust, and Diane Walz; nieces and nephews; and his grandchildren, Ezekiel, Lily, Hannah, Ryen, Benjamin, and Wilhelmina.
